Which Credit Card to pick?

Credit cards do make you life easy in terms of spending money. As there are several of them available in the market, it’s important to know how to pick the right one, which would turn out to be the most beneficial. Your spending eventually affects your savings and investments; therefore, it’s necessary to be cautious about expenses in the first place in order to make sound investments later. Different credit cards offer different deals, discounts, features and benefits that suit different customers. So, you should choose to use the card that suits your needs.

As we all are aware that a credit card comes with an annual fee for its usage. However, companies waive the fee to draw more customers. Also, there are cards which are without any annual fees. Still, you need to be sure about the card that you are enrolling for whether it comes with a fee or not. Most of the cards levy a lot of hidden charges which accumulate on the customer’s bill later. A prudent approach towards selecting a credit card would be to go through all the card options and pick the one with least or no fees attached.

Besides the annual fee, interest rate is something that you simply cannot afford to ignore as it would determine your payment amount eventually. Make sure you have the lowest rate possible on your card. The amount that you spend on your credit card is calculated on the interest rate that you have on your account. On the other hand, if you pay in full every month, you need not worry about the interest rate at all. However, it’s still good to have a low rate of interest in case you choose to pay just the minimum due. So, negotiate with your credit card company if the rate is not what you desire.

After you have taken care of annual fees and interest rate, check out the discounts and special deals that various cards offer. If you have good standing with your bank, it may cancel certain fees on your card. Some cards offer cash back on purchases. So, you can earn back as you spend! Your focus should be on saving as much as possible. For instance, if you decide to switch cards, make sure it’s for minimizing expenditure. If the new card can reduce your expenses by at least 500 bucks or so, it would be a smart deal.

A good credit card will allow you a longer payment cycle so that you can make the best usage of your card. You should get more days to yourself to make payment, which will keep you stress free and would not let your account get delinquent.

To have a healthy financial life, it’s vital to sort out one’s expenses first. It’s good to use credit cards; however it’s certainly not wise to pick anything that will make a hole in your purse! Make sure you have the best credit card that economizes your expenses and helps your investments also.
