Closing Note: Markets ascends in the end
Wednesday, July 1, 2009 4:00 pmSensex earned 152 points to close at 14,645 after reaching an up of 14,727 and a down of 14,355. The index had hit at 14,506 opposed to the last end of 14,494. Nifty rushed 50 points to end at 4,341.
Asia markets closed on the lower side; the Nikkei index dropped 0.3%, Hang Seng index fell 1% and Australia’s S&P/ASX closed down by 2%.
Among the BSE Sector indices, BSE Realty index was the chief earner earning 4.2%, followed by the BSE Bankex index high 1.3%, BSE Auto index high 1.2% and BSE Teck index high 1.5%.
Stocks traded with profits elsewhere in the Europe. The FTSE index was high 1.5%. The DAX index was high 1.5%. CAC 40 index earned 1.8%.
Neyveli Lignite, SCI, Bajaj Holding, Areva T&D, Ispat Industries and IRB Infra were among the big earners in the broader market.
The chief losers comprised Mphasis, Glenmark, REI Agro, Fortis Health, Gujarat NRE, Yes Bank and Exide Industries.
The chief earners were RCom, Tata Motors, Bharti, DLF, M&M, Reliance Infra, Sun Pharma and SBI on the sensex.
The chief losers were ACC, Tata Power, Hindalco, ONGC and Grasim.
