NHPC power creation plunges by 200-mn units on low rainfall

NHPC stated on Tuesday that its power production capacity has fallen by nearly 200 million units since April in the wake of irregular monsoons in 2009. 
India has got 24% less than standard rains 2009, leading to a dearth and drought-like situation in 278 regions in 11 states.
The hydro-power producer that today got enrolled on the bourses has 13 power stations in the North and North-East of the country.
A couple of its power factories in Madhya Pradesh are entirely rain-fed and have been impacted by listless monsoons.
The company plans to produce nearly 17,200 million units in fiscal 2010.
