Closing Note:Markets surged in the end
Friday, July 3, 2009 3:50 pmThe BSE rushed 257 points after reaching an up of 14,946 and a down of 14,499. The index had hit at 14,553 opposed to the last end of 14,658. The NSE rushed 75 points to close at 4,424.
Asian markets closed mixed; the Nikkei index dropped 0.7%, Australia’s S&P/ASX closed low 1.2%. Hang Seng index earned 0.2%.
Stocks traded on the lower side elsewhere in the Europe. The DAX index was even at 4,716. The FTSE index was even at 4,234.CAC 40 index was low 0.3%.
Among the BSE Sector indices, BSE Bankex index was the chief earner achieving 2.2%, followed by the BSE Pharmacy index high 2%, BSE Capital Goods index high 2.1% and BSE Power index high 2%.
The BSE index closed slightly up by 0.8% and BSE index was high 0.3%.
Chambal Fert, IDFC, Jain Irrigation, Shriram Transport, Glenmark and Ashok Leyland were among the big earners in the broader market.
The top losers comprised Jai Corp, Bhushan Steel, Apollo Hosp, GMDC, REI Agro,KSK Energy, BEML and Exide Ind.
The chief earners were M&M, L&T, SBI, ICICI Bank, HDFC, Tata Steel, JP Associates and Reliance Infra.
Chief losers were Sterlite, RCom, Hindalco, Hero Honda, Grasim and DLF.
