Closing Note: Markets soared towards the end
Monday, August 3, 2009 3:45 pmThe BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty rushed in the concluding hour of the trade and ended at fourteen-month high. The NSE Nifty ended beyond the 4,700 level for first time since 6th of June, last year. The rally was driven by metal, auto, realty and oil & gas stocks. Decent buying was also witnessed in capital goods, power and pharmacy stocks.
Stocks such as ICICI Bank, L&T, Reliance, Infosys, SBI, BHEL, ONGC and Reliance Communication were the optimistic contributors to the Nifty and Sensex. The BSE indices ended on a high note with 2.3% and 1.69% correspondingly. The BSE Sensex was high with 276.61 points at 15946.92, and the NSE Nifty was high with 84.90 points at 4721.35. Nearly 1775 shares ascended, 1061 shares fell and 336 shares remained unaffected.
