Tata Consultancy Services stated that execution of the Passport Seva project at 6 pilot locations has been postponed due to the ministry of external affairs failure to provide the Disaster Recovery Site. TCS anticipates charting out the assignment at the 6 pilot locations by October 2009.
The assignment foresees introducing computerized passport service centers at 6 pilot locations comprising Ludhiana, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Amritsar, Mangalore and Hubli in the early phase. After this, similar centers would be introduced in 77 locations all over the nation by June next year.
The Centre in 2007 granted the Passport Seva Project on BOT basis to TCS for pacing up the release of passports. Passports would be generated in 3 business days and under the ‘Tatkal’ plan, they would be generated on the same day.
TCS provides its IT services to governments for gaining Intra government efficiency, enhancing services to citizens, treasury mechanization and economic revenue growth.

Being a TCSer, main reason for this is TCS doesn’t have experienced and skilled prfessionals. TCS os seeing brain drain and they are dealing with freshers only. Freshres are not capable of handling such challenging work.

In modern business it’s not at all the crook who is to become feared most, it’s the honest man who doesn’t know very well what he’s doing.
