RIL has full marketing freedom for trade of gas within the country. The promotion freedom would comprise within its capacity the freedom to trade the gas on such conditions and at such rates that RIL considers fit and proper.
The two sides had got in touch with Supreme Court questioning a move by the Bombay High Court on 15th June, which said RIL should supply 28mcm of gas each day to RNRL at $2.34 on each mmBtu and both the parties should ink a necessary contract for the same within a month.
RIL, nevertheless, requests that it was just a supplier for the gas from the Krishna-Godavari region’s D6 block and did not have the control to fix the rate, while the government has also presented a special leave request in the case declaring its right on pricing and allocation of natural gas. The apex court has determined to begin hearing on this issue on 20th October.
