Reliance Natural Resources has informed the Supreme Court in a proposal to corner the government from its disagreement with Reliance Industries that the government has no part to play either in the consumption or the fixation of gas cost in its agreement with RIL.
The RNRL board stated that RIL had full marketing freedom for sale of gas within the country on such terms and at such cost that RIL considers fit and appropriate. RNRL has accused RIL of altering its deportment with regard to the 2004 family contract.
RIL approached the SC after a verdict by the Bombay High Court asking RIL to supply 28mcm of gas each day to RNRL at $2.34 on each mmBtu and requesting the parties to ink a required contract for the same in a month.
RIL has requested contending being just a supplier for the gas from the Krishna-Godavari mine’s D6 block and has no authority to set the price. Also the government has issued a special leave petition in the dispute regarding its right to fixing cost and allocation of natural gas.
