Asserting that RIL was trying to get rid of gas supply agreements with NTPC and itself, RNRL today appealed to the Supreme Court to turn the power PSU a party to its continuing case against RIL.
The shift comes within days of RNRL nearing the apex court to be a party to the appeal issued by NTPC against RIL that looks for quashing of the Bombay High Court that allowed the RIL to modify its request.
Both NTPC and RNRL are looking for gas from RIL’s KG-D6 mines at a cost of $2.34 on each mmBtu, while RIL now disputes that the cost requires government consent.
The appeals come before the beginning of final hearing on the subjects by the Supreme Court on 20th October.
Both RNRL and NTPC have taken the decision that RIL’s obligation is not impacted by any move by the government on gas employment or price and that the provider was bound to grant the PSU gas at a cost of $2.34 on each mmBtu for a time frame of 17 years.
