GAIL India to ink GSPA with Reliance Industries
Tuesday, August 18, 2009 5:45 pmGAIL India is expected to foray into Gas Sales and Purchase Agreement with Reliance Industries this week for purchasing natural gas from the latter’s Krishna Godavari-D6 mines.
KG D6 is one of the 5 biggest deepwater gas ventures internationally. The firm has been assigned 2.5mcm per day of gas from KG-D6 block for employing in manufacture of Liquefied petroleum gas. The gas supplied from the block would be employed at 6 LPG production refineries.
NTPC is expected to prosecute RIL in the SC this week to implement an agreement for gas provision at pre agreed cost in a similar disputation in the case of RNRL. NTPC plans to issue a SLP before the apex court this week.
Lately, trapped in the disagreement over KG basin gas cost, RIL Chairman met chief government authorities and the Planning Commission’s deputy chairman. Remarkably, Anil Ambani had called on Prime Minister and also Power Minister and a few others to talk about the matter. The brothers have been in a legal tussle over the stretched disagreement on KG basin gas cost. The PM has formed a ministerial assembly to observe government’s position in the Supreme Court.
