Tata Steel increase rates by nearly Rs.750 a tonne
Friday, June 19, 2009 3:00 pmTata Steel on Friday increased rates of its goods by nearly Rs.750 a tonne, the consecutive such decision in as many months due to enhanced national demand for the commodity and a strengthening international trend.Â
Nevertheless, though the statement was made on Friday the rise in costs would be implemented from 1st June. The increase in the rates has been impacted due to improved Indian demand from industries like automobile and construction, and the current uptrend in international steel rates.
Last month, the company had increased the prices of its long goods, chiefly used in the construction around Rs.300 to Rs.500 a tonne.
Tata Steel has anticipated the decisions of its peers in the industry such as JSPL and JSW Steel by hiking rates of its goods, which are planning to increase prices of their goods due to the increased off takes and minor enhancement in global costs.
Tata Steel had posted an 18% rise in its sales number in May.
RINL has already increased steel rates by Rs.1, 000 a tonne, whereas SAIL has ceased the Rs.500-a-tonne refund it was offering to the vendors of its goods.
