SpiceJet to increase fuel surcharge
Monday, April 20, 2009 12:15 pmSpiceJet seeks to lift fuel surcharge on air tickets by 200-300 bucks in the upcoming days.
Kingfisher Airlines and Jet Airways had declared an increase in fuel surcharge implemented from 19th April on Indian flights by nearly Rs.300. The bigger prices come after country’s state-operated oil marketing firms raised aviation turbine fuel’s price for national carriers by 6.7% on 16th April.
The airlines in spite of consecutive increase in ATF prices, mainly the low-priced carriers, had been unwilling to raise prices fearing a drop in passenger cargo. ATF costs account for above 40% of an airline’s running price.
