Midday Note: Markets blend gains and losses
Friday, July 24, 2009 12:05 pmThe markets strengthened at present levels after a rally of more than 2.5% yesterday at 11:48 hours IST. Metal, realty, auto and technology stocks along with Idea, ABB, BHEL, Bharti and Ranbaxy Labs saw buying zeal. Nevertheless, selling in FMCG, cement and banking stocks along with SAIL, Reliance Industries, ONGC, Reliance Communication, Cipla and Siemens capped the profits.
The Nifty dipped 8 points and the Sensex was low 27 points. Nevertheless, the wider indices were high 0.7% each. The market breadth was promising; around 1591 shares rushed while 1088 shares fell on the Sensex. Around 486 shares remained unaffected.
DLF, Tata Steel, ICICI Bank, Satyam, Suzlon Energy, Unitech and Reliance Industries were the most dynamic shares on the bourses.
Sanwaria Agro, Money Matters, Voith Paper, Sarup Tanneries, Alfred Herbert, Hitech Plast, Unichem Labs and AI Champdany declined 5-9%.
Shoppers Stop, Munjal Auto, Rico Auto, Wendt, Hyderabad Industries, GKW and Bhartiya International earned 11-20%.
