Midday Note: Market bounces back
Friday, February 27, 2009 3:05 pmMarkets have bounced back considerably in the afternoon trades driven by profits in the index majors like HDFC Bank and Tata Steel. Tata Steel’s shares wiped off initial declines and achieved more than 7% after unpredictably recording Quarter 3 gain.
25 stocks are on the lower side and just 5 stocks are on the higher side out of the 30-components of the BSE. ONGC, Bharti, Reliance Industries and Grasim are the chief losers. L&T, HDFC Bank, HDFC and Tata Steel are the chief gainers.
The Sensex index bounced back nearly 120 points and the Nifty regained almost 40 points.
The BSE 30-share dropped 80 points and the NSE was low 33 points at 3:00 pm IST.
