Closing Note: Markets tones down profits
Tuesday, March 31, 2009 3:50 pmMarkets lost some profits it earned during the day today to close at 1.47% high as buying came forth all over the board and European stocks rallied driven by banks.
Capital goods index gained the most on Tuesday with a profit of over 3%. Some good buying was also seen among the IT, realty, auto, metal and Technology sector.
The BSE benchmark started trade 1.5% up during midday indices saw a swing assembly but later recovered. The 30-share Sensex index ended at 9,708.50 and the Nifty closed 42.90 points high.
Asian markets had Japan’s index Nikkei close at 1.5% low on lasting economic qualms as the financial year ended today. Han Seng of Hong Kong ended 0.8% high mitigating its initial profits.
