The Sensex Bankex was 1.31% high at 9,299.14 at 11:43 IST.

4.60lakh shares have been traded on BSE in the counter as opposed to a standard everyday volume of 8.99lakh shares in the last single quarter.

The BSE Bankex was low 1.38%. It underdid the Sensex, which was low 0.66% at 11:49 IST. Bank of India, Karnataka Bank, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, State Bank of India, Canara Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce and Kotak Mahindra Bank fell as high inflation will force the central bank to increase chief lending costs in future.

16.30lakh shares have been traded on BSE in the counter.

Axis Bank has posted a 70.24% increase in the net gain to Rs.562.04crore for the current June quarter as opposed to Rs.330.14crore during 2007 period.

The BSE Bankex increased 1.28% at 12:52 IST.

AXIS Bank has resolved to modify the final date for its Lower Tier II debentures issue, where in it offers to issue unsecured exchangeable non-convertible subsidiary debentures of Rs.10,00,000 each, to increase sum of Rs.1,500crore valued at Tier II asset along with a green shoe alternative of nearly Rs.500crore.

Axis Bank has declared that it is planning to increase Rs.3, 000crore valued capital through Tier I and II arrears instruments in the present economic year.

Presently, Allahabad Bank trades up on the Sensex and is the chief earner on the Sensex Bankex.
